John Campsall’s 1931

John Campsall from Ontario, Canada contacted us recently with some great photos of his 1931 Chevrolet 5 Window Coupe. Here’s what he had to say about the process of getting this classic on the road.

“My friend found the 1931 for me and it was in pieces at the time with the body in one garage and the rest in another. My dad and I started working on it in 1979 but when he passed away I didn’t go into the garage for a couple of years. Time went by as I got married, had kids and bought a house. I worked on it off and on for a couple of years.

In 2001 my sons and I started going to the Woodward Dream cruise in Detroit. We were hooked. In 2007 my sons said, “Dad, why don’t we come down here in your old car” and we went home and started working on it. We took it to the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2008 and spent 4 days there driving all over the place without any problems. We have made the 5 hour drive there in the ’31 every year since.

My friend painted it Ford Mustang Grabber Blue in 2010. I work for a ford dealership and my 1931 has a 340 wedge, Dodge drive train and TCI front end. I support the big three… There are always new things I come up with to add or change on the car but I never have a problem finding all the parts that I need at The Filling Station”

Thank you John, for sharing all of the hard work that you and your sons have put into this vehicle. Keep up the great work!
