Customer: Mark Cassman

Vehicle: 1932 Chevrolet Sedan

How long have you owned this vehicle?

I have owner this sedan since 2012.

Where did you get this vehicle?

I first saw this car on the mecum auction that was listed to be sold at the St. Paul, MN sale. I knew I had to see this vehicle.

What condition was the vehicle in when you got it?

This car was in the Ellingson Museum in Rogers, MN. The collection was being sold after Mr. Ellingson died.

What work have you done on this vehicle?
The car was originally restored in the early 1970s and driven very little. After all that time many things did not work and it blew a rod bearing after only two months. It originally was the first place award winner at the 1973 AACA and first place in its class (1940 and earlier) at the Chevrolet National auto club. I decided to rebuild the engine and it kept growing into a full re-restoration inside and out.

Is there any additional work that you would like to do?

Because these cars had no rear engine seals and no front transmission seals I am working on several computer designs to create these seals. I learned many years ago there is nothing that is impossible.

What were the hardest parts to find?

After boring the engine .005 over The pistons and rings seemed to be the hardest parts to locate.

What other vehicles do you own?

I am in the first stages of restoring a 1975 Ferrari. It is currently striped and on a rotisserie and has been bead blasted and several pieces of sheet metal replaced. The engine is being rebuilt to racing configuration.

What is your next project?

I would like to start looking for a Cord after the Ferrari is completed.

Do you have any advice for people thinking about doing a restoration project?

Think carefully on what your budget is!!! It will cost much more than you think it will.
