Customer: Bob Trusty

Lives in: Oregon

Vehicle: 1955 Chevrolet Cameo

How long have you owned this vehicle?
About 15 Years, Since 1999

Where did you get this vehicle?
This truck has been family owned since 1962 and the original owner was a friend of the family who bought it new in southern California. The truck spent its first years with a camper on it and was mainly used to go fishing.

What condition was the vehicle in when you got it?
The truck was pretty much just as you see it except for a few things. The truck has been repainted the original colors about 45 years ago, Bombay ivory and commercial red. It has been well cared for and parked inside so it didn't feel neglected.

What work have you done on this vehicle?
I have changed the obvious things like the wheels and tires, installed a big block {454} and a R7004 transmission to make more drivable on the HWY.  I take it to Redding and some other shows some of the time. It has the original rear end and strait axle and factory power steering and travels at hwy speeds just like a good driving old truck should. This truck will stay the way it is and don't plan to change much I like to keep things looking fairly orginal just make more drivable at today's HWY speeds.

Is there any other work that you would like to do?
Not a thing

What were the hardest parts to find?
Been lucky this truck has never been taken apart and restored just small things, windshield rubbers, light lenses, and a few other things that The Filling Station has been more than helpful in getting for me.

What other vehicles do you own?
I own a 37 and an original 38 Chevy business coupe.

What is your next project?
How does a person that loves old cars decide?
I am working on my 38 and will be leaving it all original.
As for my 37?  let's just say it won't be original

Do you have any advice for people thinking about doing a restoration project?
Find something you love because it's fun and takes time, a lot of time, but well worth it.
